Greg Minnaar is a three time Downhill Mountain Bike World Champion from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Minnaar races for the Santa Cruz Syndicate based out of California.
GM’s illustrious career thus far has included many memorable moments. Some of the standout accomplishments in the South African’s racing career are his 16 UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup victories. In over 100 career starts, Minnaar has podiumed over 60 times.
Minnaar won the Downhill Mountain Bike World Championship in 2003 at the age of 21. After a hiatus from the top step of the World Championship podium, Minnaar regained his rainbow stripes in 2012. One of his most shining accomplishments to date came in 2013 when he defended his World Championship title at home in Pietermaritzburg, winning the race by fractions of a second, on a flat rear tire. While his three gold medals are very impressive, Minnaar boasts 9 UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Championship medals (three gold, three silver and three bronze).
